Yates Youth is a place for middle and high school students to belong, grow, and lead. We welcome students and their friends. No perfect faith required, no performance expected.

We take faith seriously and questions seriously. We eat together, study scripture together, serve together, and make music together. Over time, students do more thans attend. They lead.

Yates is a Safe Sanctuary church. All volunteers are screened and trained.

What We Do

Sunday School

Sundays at 9:15 AM — The Attic

We gather together for fun and announcements, then split into smaller groups for study and prayer. Middle school, high school, and families welcome.

Sunday Nights

Sundays 5:00–6:30 PM

Dinner, student-led music, scripture, prayer, and activities. Friends are welcome. Parents and caregivers are welcome. We don't look for ways to keep anyone out.

Missions & Service

Students serve with local partners and step into God's work near and far. Jump in as a participant or volunteer — we'll match you with projects that fit your gifts and schedule.

Camp Cheerio

Our annual fall retreat · Fall 2026

Three days of worship, hikes, canoeing, and unhurried time together at Camp Cheerio in the North Carolina mountains. Kids, youth, and adults lead worship side by side. No one is left out because of cost — scholarships are available, just ask.

Passport Youth Missions

July 12–17, 2026 · Converse University, Spartanburg SC

Passport is an ecumenical missions camp bringing students from churches across the country together for a week of service, worship, and shared life. Students lead, serve in the community, and grow in faith alongside peers they'd never otherwise meet.

Common Questions

Who can come to Sunday Nights?

Middle and high school students are the focus. Friends are welcome. Parents and caregivers are welcome. We don't look for ways to keep anyone out.

Where do we meet?

Usually in the Attic — the third floor of the Education Building. Enter through the Welcome Center and take the elevator or stairs up.

How do I get the weekly email?

Send a message to info@yateschurch.org and we'll get you added to the list.

Can I volunteer as an adult?

Yes. We'll talk about fit, schedule a background check, and provide training. Read the 8 Expectations to the left for a sense of what we're looking for.

What about safety and supervision?

Yates cultivates a culture of safety and trust for all with our Safe Sanctuary policy. Volunteers are screened and trained.

Minister of Children, Students, and Adult Discipleship

Full-Time · Reports to Senior Pastor

Yates Baptist Church is seeking a full-time minister to develop and lead ministry programs that nurture the faith of children, students, and adults. The role encompasses programming, parent communication, budget management, and adult discipleship alongside Sunday School support. We are looking for a person of proven Christian character with strong teaching, relational, and organizational gifts — and a deep love for the local church.
